Nine years have gone by since the tragic loss of television actress Pratyusha Banerjee. Known for her iconic role as Anandi in Balika Vadhu, she died by suicide on April 1, 2016. Her death shocked the industry and left many questions unanswered. Over time, controversy followed, especially surrounding her ex-boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh.
Rahul has been entangled in legal and emotional turmoil ever since. Ahead of a key court hearing on July 18, 2025, he has come forward to speak against those he believes wrongfully accused him. In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, he openly criticized actress Kamya Punjabi and producer Neeru Shah. He claims they failed to appear in court multiple times over the past three months, despite a defamation case being filed against them.
According to Rahul, Kamya and Neeru dragged him into a false narrative for publicity. He explained that when the tragedy happened, the world turned against him, even though no evidence pointed to him. The damage, he said, came from careless comments made in the media, leading to rumors of murder instead of suicide. He said people spoke without proof, and the media latched onto their words, changing the course of his life.
He shared that this public reaction triggered years of legal trouble and mental distress. He also revealed that the emotional toll affected not only him but his entire family. He said he was left to fight the battle alone while the rest of the world moved on.
The conflict with Kamya and Neeru began when they allegedly associated a short film with Pratyusha’s death. Rahul strongly believes they used the tragic incident as a tool to promote their project. This, he said, crossed a line. In response, he filed a defamation case of ₹1 crore each against them. He also included platforms like Google and YouTube in the case for spreading what he calls unverified content.
Rahul made it clear that Kamya and Neeru have been avoiding accountability. He claimed they failed to present any proof to support their public accusations that he was involved in Pratyusha’s death. According to him, the court has asked them to submit evidence multiple times, but they have not complied. He accused them of deliberately missing hearings.
He said he has reached his breaking point and is now demanding clarity. In his words, “I challenge both Kamya and Neeru to submit evidence against me to prove their claim in the next hearing date on the matter which is 18th July, 2025.”
Rahul expressed his frustration over the ongoing silence and absence from court. He said it was easy for people to make statements for attention but much harder to prove them in court. He also questioned why, even after so many years, there was still no concrete evidence against him.
Pratyusha’s death left many heartbroken, and her absence is still felt deeply by her fans and peers. As the hearing date approaches, Rahul is hoping for closure. He says he wants justice not just for himself but also to stop others from using personal tragedy for their own gain.
