For years, Lataa Saberwal and Sanjeev Seth were one of television’ popular off-screen couples, having first met on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Their bond, which blossomed during the show, eventually led them to marriage in 2009. After sharing 16 years together and raising a son, the couple quietly parted ways, confirming their separation to fans recently. It was Lataa who first addressed it, using her social media to make the announcement.
On June 21, Lataa posted an Instagram story informing followers about the personal change in her life.
Now, Sanjeev Seth has opened up about the separation for the first time. In a conversation with Bombay Times, he admitted that while the situation is painful, it’s something he must come to terms with. “What has happened is very sad. But I can’t keep sulking and crying over it. Life goes on, and one has to move on. I am concentrating on my work now,” he expressed. His words reflected acceptance.
Before his marriage to Lataa, Sanjeev was earlier married to actress Reshma Tipnis. Together, they have two children. Later, with Lataa, he became a father again in 2013 when they welcomed a baby boy. Speaking about his children, Sanjeev shared his desire to focus on his family, cherishing time with them while managing his personal healing.
On the professional front, Sanjeev had taken a break from television after his appearance in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke in 2020. During this time away from daily soaps, he ventured into digital content creation. Exploring new interests, he became a vlogger, posting videos about food, travel, and lifestyle, offering glimpses into destinations and culinary experiences. This break from acting provided him a fresh space to engage with audiences in a different format.
After five years, Sanjeev recently returned to the small screen with the show Jhanak. Talking about his decision to return, he explained how he was eager for a change in the kind of roles being offered to him. “I wanted to do something different and I found that very exciting. Now, after five years, I am back on TV; it’s a good role and hence, I took it up,” he shared. The show, which now stars Arjit Taneja and Riya Sharma after a recent leap, presented the kind of challenge he had been hoping for.
The separation news came as a surprise to many fans who had admired the couple’s chemistry both on and off-screen. Though neither went into details about the reasons behind the split, it was evident that both were focusing on personal peace and professional growth. Lataa, too, continues to remain active on social media, frequently updating followers about her life and work.
