Singer-actress Hayes Warner has officially joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s highly anticipated FX drama The Shards as a series regular, according to a report by Deadline.
The show is based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 2023 thriller novel, which was first released as a serialized audiobook before being published in print.
Plot of The Shards
Set in Los Angeles, 1981, the story follows a 17-year-old Bret Easton Ellis during his senior year at an elite prep school. His life is disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious new student, Robert Mallory, while a terrifying serial killer known as The Trawler begins terrorizing the city.
Hayes Warner’s Role
Warner will portray Debbie Shaffer, a wealthy and influential prep school student. She joins a star-studded ensemble including Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, Homer Gere, and Graham Campbell.
The project, first reported in development back in May, will be directed by Max Winkler, with Murphy, Ellis, and Winkler serving as executive producers alongside Nick Hall, Kathleen McCaffrey, and Brian Young.

Ellis, known for iconic works like American Psycho and Less Than Zero, is directly adapting his novel for television. This marks FX’s fresh attempt to bring the story to screen after an earlier HBO version did not move forward.
Who is Hayes Warner?
