Actress Janhvi Kapoor has responded strongly after a viral video from a Janmashtami celebration in Ghatkopar turned her into “meme material.”

The actress attended a traditional Dahi Handi event, where she broke the matki with a coconut and chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” However, soon after, trolls claimed she confused Janmashtami with Independence Day. The short video spread rapidly, sparking jokes and memes across social media.

Reacting to the trolling, Janhvi Kapoor took to Instagram to post the unedited full clip, clarifying the situation. In the video, someone from the crowd can be heard saying “Bolo Bharat Mata Ki Jai” before she repeated the chant.
Janhvi explained:
“Just for context, full video lol. If I didn’t say it after they did, it would’ve been a problem. If I do say it, the clip gets edited and turned into meme material. By the way, not just on Janmashtami, I’ll say Bharat Mata Ki Jai every single day.”

On the professional front, Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for her next big release “Param Sundari” opposite Sidharth Malhotra, which is scheduled to hit theatres on August 29.
