Bollywood actor Vipin Sharma, celebrated for his moving performance in Taare Zameen Par, has opened up about his mysterious 12-year break from acting — a phase that completely changed his life and career.

He revealed that after a few early projects, he distanced himself from the film industry for more than a decade. His comeback film Taare Zameen Par was not only a milestone in his career but also an emotional restart.

“The first shoot after so many years was emotional. It felt like my journey had begun again,” he shared.

A Transformational Journey Abroad

During his long break, Sharma moved abroad and worked as an editor — a role that taught him a new dimension of storytelling.

“That experience taught me so much. Returning to films felt exciting. Everything looked new, and the first assignment became unforgettable,” he said.

Riding High With Maharani 4

Currently, Vipin Sharma is enjoying the success of ‘Maharani’ Season 4, now streaming on Sony LIV since November 7. The political drama stars Huma Qureshi in the lead.

Sharma revealed that his role in the series came through someone very special.

“Producer Subhash Kapoor offered me the role. We had been in touch for nearly 15 years, and I always wanted to work with him. So I said yes instantly.”

Understanding Characters Beyond Their Profession

Sharma also opened up about his unique approach to negative roles. For him, a character’s soul matters more than their designation.

He explained:

  • “I never overthink my acting.”
  • “The profession — be it politician, doctor or lawyer — doesn’t matter to me.”
  • “I try to understand the human hiding inside the character.”

According to him, once he understands a character’s emotions and psychology, even the toughest role becomes effortless.
