The trailer of Bollywood film Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has stirred a major controversy shortly after its release. A Christian religious group has demanded the removal of a romantic scene set inside a church, claiming it is offensive to their sentiments.
Christian Group Writes to CBFC, Ministry, and Police
The controversy erupted after a scene in the trailer showed Sidharth and Janhvi’s characters flirting inside a church. The Watchdog Foundation, a Christian organisation, strongly criticised the depiction, calling it disrespectful to a sacred place of worship. The group has written to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Maharashtra Government, and the Mumbai Police, demanding that the scene be deleted from the film.
They have also questioned the CBFC’s approval of the scene and warned of protests if the demand is not met.

Community Sentiments Hurt, Group Demands Action
According to a report by Mid-Day, the group has insisted that not only the film but also its trailer and promotional videos must be edited to remove the church scene. In their letter, they stated that the church is a holy place for Christians and should not be used as a backdrop for “obscene content.” They believe the portrayal undermines the sanctity of the religious site and deeply hurts the Catholic community’s sentiments.
About the Film
