In a significant ruling, the Delhi High Court has given Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan major relief by declaring that using her photos or videos without prior consent is illegal.
The court issued an interim order directing that all unauthorized and objectionable content involving the actress must be removed from online platforms within 72 hours. Additionally, websites hosting such material have been ordered to be blocked immediately.
Privacy and Dignity Cannot Be Violated, Says Court
The court emphasized that misusing a person’s identity, name, or image is a violation of their privacy and dignity rights. Since Aishwarya Rai is a global public figure and a brand ambassador for several major companies, any misuse of her image could cause serious harm to her reputation and credibility.

Earlier, Aishwarya Rai had filed a petition stating that her pictures and videos were being misused without her permission. She argued that such actions not only affect her personal life but also damage her professional image and public standing.
The court’s ruling sets an important precedent not only for celebrities but also for common citizens, reinforcing that no one’s image or identity can be misused without consent.
