Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has been away from the silver screen for over seven years. Fans last saw her in the 2018 film Zero, and later in a cameo appearance in Qala. Since then, her much-awaited comeback project, Chakda Xpress, has been hanging in limbo despite being wrapped up in 2022.

Now, after months of silence, a major update has reignited excitement among her fans — Netflix might finally move forward with its release!

Netflix Reconsidering ‘Chakda Xpress’ Release After India’s World Cup Win

According to a Mid-Day report, the victory of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team at the ICC World Cup has prompted renewed talks about releasing Chakda Xpress. The makers of the film have reportedly written a formal letter to top Netflix India executives, urging them to release the long-delayed project.

The film, based on the life of cricket legend Jhulan Goswami, aims to inspire audiences with her extraordinary journey from a small-town girl to one of the world’s most celebrated fast bowlers.

Makers’ Personal Appeal to Netflix

As per insider sources quoted by Mid-Day, the producers have personally requested Netflix to overlook past creative disagreements and release the film. The team believes that Jhulan Goswami’s story “deserves to reach audiences,” regardless of past conflicts.

Why Was ‘Chakda Xpress’ Delayed?

Sources reveal that the climax of the film didn’t align with Netflix’s creative expectations, leading to the project being shelved for nearly three years. Despite being a high-budget biopic, the streaming giant had withheld its approval.

However, with public demand surging after India’s cricket triumph, insiders say that Netflix might reconsider its decision, possibly allowing some final edits before release. Reports hint that a final call could be taken by the end of this year.

Shot in 2022, Still Awaiting Release

Directed by Prosit Roy and produced by Clean Slate Filmz, Chakda Xpress was completely shot in 2022. The film marks Anushka Sharma’s grand return to acting after focusing on her personal life and production ventures. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see if the film finally gets the green light.
