Mimicry maestro Sanket Bhosale has finally revealed the surprising backstory of how he landed his gig on The Kapil Sharma Show.

Appearing recently on Paras Chhabra’s podcast, Sanket took fans down memory lane as he spilled the beans on how Bollywood’s own Varun Dhawan became his unexpected golden ticket to Indian television’s biggest comedy stage.

Varun Dhawan: The Unexpected Casting Director

Turns out, all it took was one high-energy episode of Baba Ki Chowki and a jaw-dropping Sanju Baba mimicry to blow Varun Dhawan’s mind.

“The Kapil Sharma Show happened to me because of Varun Dhawan,” Sanket shared, not holding back the gratitude. “He came on my show Baba Ki Chowki, and after seeing me mimic Sanjay Dutt and others, he went crazy! He told me, “‘Aapko Kapil show pe aana chahiye. I’ll tell him.’”

Sanket admitted he didn’t take it seriously at first. “Actors say a lot of things in the moment, and honestly, I thought this was just polite praise. I said thanks and moved on. But Varun actually went and recommended me to the Kapil Sharma team. Woh sach mein bol ke aaya!”

Stage Jitters to Standing Ovation

When Sanket finally stepped on the set of The Kapil Sharma Show, he wasn’t met with confetti and cake. Instead, it was curiosity and quiet judgment.

“Everyone there was wondering yeh karega kya show pe?” he recalled with a laugh. “But I had a blast! I truly believe if you enjoy performing, the audience feels that energy. If you go on stage sulking, complaining in your head, that vibe spreads.”

Safe to say, Sanket left a mark and not just with his pitch-perfect impressions. He had the audience and even the guests in splits.

“The Most Secure Comedian I’ve Met”

While talking about his experience on the show, Sanket couldn’t stop raving about the man himself, Kapil Sharma.

“That show is truly blessed,” he declared. “Kapil bhai is super supportive. Most comedians in the industry are low-key insecure. They get tense when someone else makes the audience laugh harder. But Kapil? He’ll pull you to the front, give you the mic, and tell the world about your talent.”

And this isn’t just flattery. Sanket shared a moment that perfectly captured Kapil’s generosity. “My act was done. I was backstage. Sidhu paaji was there and loved it. Suddenly, Kapil bhai called me back on stage. I thought I’d messed something up.”

But instead, Kapil introduced Sanket to the audience all over again and this time, as Dr. Sanket Bhosale. “He told everyone about my background, that I’m a doctor. Then, before I left, he told me to touch Sidhu paaji’s feet. Not because of the cameras, but because it’s our culture. That moment really connected us. I do that naturally too.”

From Baba Ki Chowki to Nationwide Laughs

Sanket’s journey has been nothing short of a laugh-riot rollercoaster. While he’s now a household name, fans have loved him long before his Kapil Sharma Show debut. From The Drama Company to Super Night With Tubelight, Gangs of Filmistaan to Case Toh Banta Hai, Sanket has made a mark wherever he’s gone armed with just a mic and a wild roster of celebrity voices.
