The actress recalled that she met Sachin during the shooting of her film Hum. She shared that it was purely a coincidental meeting through family. “When I was doing Hum, I met Sachin for the first time, because Sachin jaha pe rehte the mere cousin brother waha par rehte the,” Shilpa revealed.
She further explained that Sachin and her cousin used to play cricket together in Bandra East, and it was through this connection that they got introduced. Shilpa made it clear that there was never any romantic angle between them. The speculation, she said, likely started because of Sachin’s rising stardom and her public profile as an actress.
“And Sachin was already seeing Anjali at that time, which was not told to anybody. We all knew because we were friends,” she clarified. She believes the media jumped to conclusions just because an actor met a cricketer. “I met him once,” she added.

Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar had once also reacted to these dating rumors. In an older interview with India Today, the cricketer was asked about the most bizarre thing he had ever heard about himself. Without hesitation, Sachin referred to the rumors linking him with Shilpa.
He had responded, “I had heard rumors that I was dating Shilpa Shirodkar. But we don’t even know each other,” dismissing the speculation outright.
