At the same time, excitement is building around the reboot of the iconic show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The classic daily soap is set to return for a second season, and naturally, viewers wanted to know how Ronit feels about it, considering his memorable role as Mihir Virani in the original.
In a recent conversation with Times Of India TV, the actor shared his thoughts on the much-awaited reboot. Ronit admitted he was pleased to see Kyunki making a comeback, though he won’t be a part of it this time. Speaking about the show’s return, he expressed, “I’m happy that they decided to bring back Kyunki. And unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. But, of course, Kyunki is a show that has been very close to my heart. I did Kyunki for eight years of my life. And I wish the makers and all the cast and crew, I wish them the very best. Now looking forward to watching it.”
The actor spent a large part of his career on television and made a mark with his powerful characters. Naturally, many wondered if he would consider returning for a long-form television series again. When asked, he admitted he wasn’t against the idea of being on TV for an extended period. However, he hinted that the medium still needed several improvements. He pointed out, “25 years from when I began. And the world has changed. Some things need to be fixed regarding television.” He believes that even after more than two decades, Indian television remains stuck in certain patterns that need attention. He noted that he began his television career in 2000, and though it’s now 2025, much remains unchanged. There’s still, in his words, “much to be desired.”
Meanwhile, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is gearing up for a grand second innings. The original series, which aired from July 3, 2000, to November 6, 2008, was one of Indian television’s most-watched and talked-about family dramas. The reboot has created a buzz, especially since Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are returning as Tulsi and Mihir, the characters that turned them into household names.
Adding to the excitement, reports suggest that popular actresses Mouni Roy and Karishma Tanna have also joined the cast of the new season. The production team has reportedly taken extra precautions to maintain secrecy around the shooting. According to insiders, strict security measures are in place to ensure no leaks from the sets.
