Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai continues to hold its position as one of the top-rated shows on Indian television. Its latest season has given audiences new characters to root for, and among them, Rohit Purohit has emerged as a fan favourite. Ever since he stepped into the role of Armaan, the show’s loyal viewers have embraced him. Though he joined the serial midway, Rohit managed to strike an instant connection with the audience.

In an exclusive conversation with BollywoodLife, the actor spoke about his journey and reflected on what makes acting so meaningful to him. Rohit, who has been part of the entertainment industry for years, revealed how fortunate he feels to have portrayed a wide range of characters. He explained that this profession allows him to experience several lifetimes within one. “Being an actor… it means getting the chance to live so many different lives, to feel such a wide range of emotions. In this one lifetime, I’ve had the chance to live so many,” he said.

The actor has experimented with contrasting roles, and each one has left a mark on his career. While today’s audience knows him as the emotionally conflicted Armaan, many still remember his portrayal of the fierce warrior Alexander in the historical drama Porus. For Rohit, these shifts are essential. They help break the monotony and keep the passion for his craft alive. He admitted that switching between characters brings new challenges and keeps his work engaging.

Rohit pointed out that Armaan is one of the most layered characters he’s played to date. “Armaan, for example, is one of the most complex roles I’ve done. His relationships are layered, and every day brings a new emotional equation,” he confessed.

Interestingly, not many are aware that Rohit has no formal background in acting. He started his career without attending any acting school or workshop. Everything he knows, he learned on set. The actor admitted that his growth as an artist has come from working alongside talented directors and co-stars. Observing others and immersing himself in his roles helped him improve with each project.

When asked about his definition of success, Rohit gave a heartfelt response. “Success, for me, isn’t a destination. It’s about consistently doing what you love, and I feel blessed that I still get to do that,” he said.

His sincerity reflects in his performances, which is why audiences have so easily accepted him in the long-running family drama. The role of Armaan might have come with emotional highs and lows, but Rohit has embraced it with honesty. His on-screen chemistry with Samridhi Shukla has also added freshness to the serial’s narrative, giving loyal viewers more reasons to stay hooked.
