Ram Kapoor, a name that dominated Indian television for years, continues to live life on his own terms. The actor, who became a household favorite with roles in Kasamh Se and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, remains one of the highest-paid stars of his time. Known for his natural charm and effortless screen presence, Ram Kapoor is now equally recognized for his enviable lifestyle, especially his love for luxury cars.
In a recent conversation with Humans of Bombay, the actor opened up about his long-standing passion for automobiles. He described himself as a lifelong petrolhead, someone who finds immense joy in the hum of a powerful engine and the gleam of a fine machine. “I have always been crazy petrol-head. I have really been into cars and bikes,” he admitted. He shared how most of his friends from the corporate world own bigger, better collections than his, but since they stay away from the limelight, their possessions never become public conversation.
Ram Kapoor pointed out that the only reason his car collection becomes news is because of his celebrity status. While many like him quietly indulge in their passions, for actors, privacy is a luxury they don’t often enjoy. His recent Lamborghini Urus purchase is proofKapoor said, “When I bought the Lamborghini, I had clearly told the dealer that don’t put press there. However, they had their in-house photographer. Now, the minute they uploaded it on their site, the media took it.”
Beyond cars, watches are the other indulgence Ram Kapoor doesn’t hesitate to spend on. He admitted that while his personal style choices are simple, his wife Gautami Kapoor takes the lead in curating his wardrobe. Fashion, he says, isn’t a world he navigates alone. Gautami keeps him updated about trends and helps pick outfits that suit him best.
In the same conversation, Kapoor touched upon financial security, a subject not many television actors openly discuss. He spoke about how a successful, long-running show in the TV industry can be as rewarding as a film career if one manages their earnings wisely. Kapoor shared, “It is not that television actors make as much as film actors. But if you have a hit show which lasts for 7-8 years and if you are at the top of television or making a lot of money, your per month cheque is equal to your salary for 8 years.”
Kapoor claimed that with smart choices and steady work, they’ve built fortunes meant to last. “People like me, Sakshi and Ronit, if you have been on television for 20 years and are sensible then you have made enough for at least 3-4 generations,” he said with quiet pride.
Apart from his car collection and luxurious watches, Kapoor owns multiple properties. His primary residence in Mumbai is grand, but it doesn’t stop there. The actor has homes in Goa, Khandala, and a sprawling vacation villa in Alibaug valued at around Rs 20 crore.
For Ram Kapoor, success isn’t about public display. He prefers to live on his own terms, driven by passion rather than showmanship.
