Hold onto your nostalgia hats, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is back! And this time, there’s a new ‘Tulsi’ in town. Actress Tanisha Mehta is all set to step into the iconic world of Kyunki 2, playing the lead role of Vrinda opposite none other than Smriti Irani herself. But while the reboot promises big drama and bigger emotions, Tanisha is already winning hearts with something else, her real-life devotion to Tulsi… the plant, not the character.
Not Just a Role, It’s a Ritual
For most, landing the lead role in one of India’s most legendary family dramas would be the biggest twist in their life. But for Tanisha Mehta, it feels more like divine alignment. The actress revealed that her connection with the sacred Tulsi plant runs deeper than just a script requirement.
“Tulsi holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. It’s believed to protect the home, bring positive energy and happiness,” Tanisha shared. She even planted one in her home right after moving in.
Tanisha’s spiritual side is not for showbiz optics. In fact, she admits she doesn’t talk about it much.
“A lot of people don’t know this about me, but throughout the years I’ve actually become a very dharmik (religious) person.”
No PR fluff, no dramatic build-up, just an actress who genuinely wakes up to offer water to the sun and her beloved Tulsi plant every morning. While most of us are still snoozing through alarms, Tanisha is performing Mahadev Abhishek at the local temple under her building, every single Monday.
Spirituality isn’t a costume Tanisha slips into for screen time. It’s a grounding force in her real life.
“It’s a quiet, grounding practice that brings me a lot of peace,” she explained.
Tanisha is fully aware of the legacy she’s stepping into. Taking on a show that defined Indian television for a generation is no small feat. But she’s not letting the pressure dull her sparkle.
Stepping into a Legacy With Gratitude and Goosebumps
Tanisha knows the weight the name Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi carries. After all, she’s stepping into a universe where Smriti Irani isn’t just a character, she’s a cultural icon.
“I’m giving it everything I have. I just hope the audience welcomes me with the same love they’ve always given to this show. I get goosebumps every time I think about it,” she admitted, visibly moved by the opportunity.
She also made sure to thank Ekta Kapoor, the queen of Indian television, for trusting her with such a pivotal role. Sounds like the blessings are flowing from both the temple and the sets.
Tanisha’s Steady and Spiritual Rise
Before this life-changing gig, Tanisha made her mark in shows like Shubh Laabh Aapkey Ghar Mein (2021), Lag Ja Gale (2023), and Ikk Kudi Punjab Di (2023). While those roles showed her acting chops, Kyunki 2 might just be her moment to go from known to unforgettable.
Whether it’s her worship, her calm energy, or her quiet confidence, Tanisha Mehta is already setting a tone that feels refreshing. She’s not trying to fill Tulsi’s shoes, she’s watering her own Tulsi plant and letting the roots grow.
