The actress shared that there have been times when she lost out on promising projects because of her unwillingness to perform scenes she wasn’t comfortable with. While narrated one particular incident. She was approached for a big project, one that initially made her happy. It seemed like a great opportunity. However, things took an unexpected and ugly turn.
Helly recalled that after the initial excitement, she received a message that changed everything. “Then there was this huge message: ‘There is a condition,’” she remembered reading. The message went on to mention that she would have to visit a certain place for reasons that weren’t professional. That moment made her realize how casually some people in the industry still tried to misuse their positions.
Without thinking twice, Helly refused. She politely told them to look for someone else because she couldn’t be part of such an arrangement. What followed next disturbed her even more. The person replied with another message, and this time, it was even more appalling. “The reply that came was even more shocking. The person said, ‘It is okay on phone also. That it will work online.’ Online compromise.”
The suggestion wasn’t just disrespectful but deeply offensive. Helly immediately blocked the number. She admitted she couldn’t comprehend how people could stoop so low. “There is no decency at all. It is just, it is bad that there are people like this. So yes, I did not do that project because I will not do anything that goes against my ethics,” she stated firmly.
While Helly refrained from naming the project or the individual involved, she hinted that revealing names could create unnecessary trouble. But she made it clear that protecting her integrity mattered more to her than any opportunity, no matter how big.
The actress emphasized that such experiences reflect a deeper issue still existing within the industry. Even today, women often find themselves navigating situations that question their dignity.
