Canadian YouTuber-turned-comedian Lilly Singh has officially joined the cast of Netflix’s much-anticipated film Best of the Best, a youthful coming-of-age story that celebrates friendship, competition, and the colorful world of Bollywood dance.
Plot and Storyline
According to Variety, the film follows the journey of two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, who join their college’s Bollywood dance team. As they gear up for the national championship, the duo quickly discovers that the competition is fiercer and more unpredictable than they ever imagined.
Star-Studded Cast
The film brings together a diverse cast including Chaneil Kular (Sex Education), Ankur Rathee (Four More Shots Please), Shreya Navile (Taish), Nico Greetham (The Prom), Janina Gavankar (Big Sky), and Saara Chaudry (The Muppets Mayhem). Previously announced names also include Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Priyanka Kedia, and Hasan Minhaj.
Creative Team
The script has been penned by Hasan Minhaj and Prashanth Venkataramanujam, who are also serving as producers alongside Jonathan Eirich for Rideback. Ryan Halprin and Ellen Schwartz are on board as executive producers.
Lilly Singh’s Ongoing Projects
Beyond Best of the Best, Lilly Singh continues to expand her creative career. Earlier in 2024, she went viral with a reel featuring Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra. Additionally, Lilly is a part-owner and Chief Hype Officer of Toronto Tempo, Canada’s first WNBA team.
She is also the lead actor, co-writer, and producer of the comedy Doin’ It, which premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival and is set for a US theatrical release on September 19, 2025.
