Haryanvi film actor and producer Uttpal Kumar has been detained by Ghaziabad Police in connection with rape allegations filed by a fellow actress. The arrest was made by Shalimar Garden police station officials, who brought Kumar in for interrogation on Monday morning from his farmhouse.
According to ACP Abhishek Srivastava, an FIR was registered on July 18 under Section 69 of the BNS after a woman accused Kumar of sexually exploiting her under the pretext of marriage and offering film roles. The complainant claimed that Kumar first met her five years ago, invited her several times to his office in Shalimar Garden, and assaulted her repeatedly. She further alleged that he also exploited her at his farmhouse.
The woman stated that when she pressured Kumar for marriage and film commitments, he not only refused but also allegedly hurled caste-based slurs. Initially, police filed an FR (Final Report), which prompted the victim to attempt self-immolation outside the CM’s residence in Lucknow on September 6.
Following this, DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil ordered the case to be reopened and reinvestigated. Authorities confirmed that Kumar is currently in custody, and further action will be taken based on interrogation outcomes.
