A shocking tragedy has struck the Indian fashion and entertainment industry. Sen Rachel, the 25-year-old model and Miss Puducherry 2021, has allegedly died by suicide. She passed away on Sunday at JIPMER Hospital, Puducherry, plunging her fans and the industry into deep sorrow.
Reports suggest that Sen Rachel consumed an overdose of sleeping pills, struggling with depression in recent times. Her demise has left a wave of grief across the modelling and fashion circles, with friends, fans, and colleagues mourning her loss on social media and praying for her soul’s peace.
Interestingly, Sen Rachel’s real name was Shankar Priya. She had earlier won the title of Miss Dark Queen Tamil Nadu 2019, followed by her triumph in Miss Puducherry 2021. Despite the color discrimination she faced due to her dark skin tone, Sen boldly faced all challenges and built her space in the modelling world.
Her modelling career also took her to international platforms in London, Germany, and France. After losing her mother early in life, her father raised her and supported her aspirations in modelling, standing firmly against the prevailing obsession with fair skin in the industry.
It is also reported that Rachel had recently gotten married. On July 5, she allegedly consumed an excess of sleeping pills. As her health deteriorated, her father rushed her to a government hospital, later transferring her to a private facility, and finally to JIPMER hospital, where she passed away on Saturday.
The Uralayanpettai Police have registered a case and begun investigations. No suicide note has been recovered so far, and the exact reason behind her extreme step remains unclear. Her unexpected death has deeply saddened her admirers, who remember her for her resilience and bold personality.
