Baltimore-based comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, known for his stand-up performances across the U.S., has died at the age of 52. According to PEOPLE, Carroll was fatally shot on August 20, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi.
The Southaven Police Department confirmed they responded to a shooting incident on Burton Lane. Despite medical personnel’s efforts to save him, Carroll succumbed to his injuries. Authorities later announced that a suspect had been taken into custody and charged with his murder.
In a statement shared on August 23, police expressed condolences:
“One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll. Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Carroll. Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding.”
Family and Community Pay Tribute
Carroll’s brother, Jonathan Carroll, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook, thanking fans, friends, and supporters for their condolences. “Your love has been well received, thank you!!!” he wrote.
Comedy clubs and fellow comedians also mourned his loss. Baltimore’s Mobtown Comedy Club posted:
“Rest in power @comedianreggiecarroll, thank you for being one of the OGs who supported us early on. The Baltimore comedy community is deeply saddened by this loss.”
A Legacy in Comedy
Carroll’s career spanned over two decades. He gained recognition in 2000 after performing on Showtime at the Apollo and continued to entertain audiences nationwide. Most recently, he produced and hosted the 2023 stand-up special “Knockout Kings of Comedy.”
