The entertainment industry has been struck with grief yet again. Just a day after mourning the loss of actress Priya Marathe, another heartbreaking news has surfaced. Prem Sagar, the son of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, and a renowned film producer himself, passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 81.

According to reports, Prem Sagar breathed his last at around 10 AM at his Juhu residence in Mumbai. His death has left the entire television fraternity in deep sorrow.

Battling Illness Before His Demise

Prem Sagar had been ailing for quite some time and was undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for nearly a month. He had recently undergone stomach surgery and was discharged from the hospital on Saturday. Sadly, just a day later, on Sunday morning, he passed away at home due to age-related health complications.

Much like his father, Prem Sagar was a versatile talent. Along with acting, he explored direction, production, and cinematography, earning admiration in each field. While his contributions often remained behind the scenes, his impact on Indian television and cinema remains unforgettable. Actor Arun Govil, who immortalized the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic Ramayan, expressed his sorrow on Instagram. Sharing a picture of Prem Sagar, Govil wrote:

“The news of the passing of Shri Prem Sagar Ji, son of the late Ramanand Sagar Ji who brought Ramayan to life on television, is deeply saddening. May Lord Ram grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family in this moment of grief. Om Shanti.”
