The Bhojpuri film industry has often been in the spotlight for its glamorous and bold portrayals of actresses. One such actress, Mahima Gupta, created a sensation with her entry into the industry and signed nearly 15 films back-to-back. However, despite her rising fame, Mahima suddenly distanced herself from Bhojpuri cinema. In an exclusive interview with FilmiBeat Hindi, she revealed the harsh reality of what actresses actually face in the industry.

“Compromise Before Every Project”

When asked about her experience, Mahima Gupta admitted that although she didn’t directly face casting couch situations, she was repeatedly offered roles on the condition of “compromise.” Refusing such demands often cost her major projects.

“Some Actors Openly Demand Favors”

Without naming anyone, Mahima hinted that several well-established actors in Bhojpuri films survive by exploiting newcomers. According to her, many actresses are pressured into fulfilling “favors” in exchange for opportunities.

“Only One Thing Matters, Not Talent”

Mahima claimed that talent takes a backseat in Bhojpuri cinema. “They don’t care about your skills—just one thing matters,” she revealed. Those who agreed were welcomed, while those who refused received calls from producers stating they were no longer part of the project.

Leaving Bhojpuri Cinema for Mental Peace

The constant pressure and indirect casting couch environment took a toll on Mahima’s mental health. Eventually, she chose to step away from the Bhojpuri film industry. Now, the actress is eyeing Bollywood, hoping to find opportunities where her true talent will be recognized.
