A horrifying incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Kota district on Sunday night when a massive fire broke out in the Deep Shree Apartment, Anantpura area, killing two brothers — child actor Veer Sharma and his elder brother Shourya Sharma.
According to police reports, the fire started on the fourth floor of the apartment, where the children were present at the time. The dense smoke led to suffocation, causing the tragic deaths of 10-year-old Veer and 15-year-old Shourya.
Cause of the Fire
Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit triggered the blaze. Police Superintendent Tejaswini Gautam confirmed that the fire completely engulfed the drawing room, leaving burn marks across other parts of the flat as well.
Who Were Veer and Shourya Sharma?
The victims were the sons of actress Rita Sharma and Jitendra Sharma, a teacher at a coaching institute. At the time of the incident, Jitendra was attending an event in the city, while Rita was in Mumbai.
- Veer Sharma had played Laxman in the TV mythological series Shrimad Ramayan and was set to portray the childhood role of actor Saif Ali Khan in an upcoming film.
- Shourya Sharma, his elder brother, was preparing for the IIT entrance exams and was known as a bright student.
A Family’s Brave Decision
In the wake of this heart-wrenching tragedy, the grieving family chose to donate the eyes of both Veer and Shourya, giving hope of sight to those in need. The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire district, with police continuing a detailed probe into the exact cause of the fire.
