Kichcha Sudeepa Urges Public to Adopt Indie Dogs After SC Ruling
Popular Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeepa has made an emotional appeal to citizens, urging them to adopt Indian-breed street dogs in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on stray animal welfare.
Speaking about the plight of street dogs, the actor reminded people that “they didn’t choose the streets” and deserve love, care, and a safe home. His statement came shortly after the apex court directed states to implement guidelines for the humane treatment of stray animals, including vaccination, feeding, and sterilisation programs.
Kichcha Sudeepa, known for his strong humanitarian stance, said adopting an indie dog not only changes the animal’s life but also helps in reducing the stray population humanely. He encouraged pet lovers to look beyond expensive foreign breeds and embrace Indian breeds that are equally loving, loyal, and adaptable to local conditions.
Animal rights activists welcomed the actor’s appeal, noting that celebrity voices can significantly influence public behaviour toward stray animals. The Supreme Court’s order is expected to strengthen legal protection for stray dogs and improve their living conditions across the country.
The Supreme Court's decision to round up the stray dogs in Delhi NCR and to be kept in shelters permanently isn't something I wanna question as this decision may have its reasons. But it also raises serious concerns about their well-being and the impact on their lives.
