Famous playback singer Jubeen Garg’s sudden demise during a scuba diving session in Singapore has left the music industry and his fans heartbroken. Bollywood music composer and singer Anu Malik, who worked with him in films like Mission Istanbul (2008) and Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003), opened up about the late singer’s health struggles.
“He Used to Blackout Suddenly”
In a heartfelt conversation with HT, Anu Malik revealed, “He was a very humble and gentle person. Jubeen once told me that he would suddenly blackout. I advised him to undergo a medical check-up and start treatment.” Malik recalled meeting Jubeen for the first time in Assam and giving him a chance to sing in Fiza. From there, their musical journey picked pace.
Deep Connection With Assam
According to Malik, Jubeen’s love for Assam’s hills and nature kept pulling him back. Even though he could have achieved greater success by staying in Mumbai, Jubeen preferred to return home. He was also actively involved in social work, running a charity to help flood-affected regions in Assam.
“Sir, I Won’t Come Back to Mumbai”
Anu Malik revealed that Jubeen often spoke with pride about his regional music. Despite Malik encouraging him to stay in Mumbai for more opportunities, Jubeen always insisted on returning to Assam. “Once he told me—Anu sir, I don’t want to come back to Mumbai. If you call me, I’ll come for recording but will always return to Assam,” Malik recalled.
