A fresh case of language conflict in Karnataka has made headlines after two women engaged in a heated argument at a Namma Metro station in Bengaluru. The fight, centered around the use of Hindi and Kannada, quickly escalated, drawing the attention of bystanders who had to intervene. The dramatic confrontation was captured on camera and has since gone viral on social media.
According to reports, the clash began when one woman refused to converse in Kannada, insisting on speaking Hindi instead. Meanwhile, the other woman firmly responded in Kannada, refusing to switch languages. The viral video shows the two women standing at a metro ticket counter, trading sharp words.
At one point, the woman wearing a burqa can be heard shouting, “Are you the Chief Minister? Get lost!” while the other woman repeatedly insisted on speaking Kannada. The argument intensified when the Hindi-speaking woman mocked, “Are you Siddaramaiah’s wife?”—a comment that further fueled the altercation.
Bystanders eventually stepped in to separate the women and defuse the situation.
The video has already crossed 1.5 lakh views and over 3,000 likes online, sparking mixed reactions. Many social media users have criticized the fight as pointless, calling it a “needless language war” that benefits no one.
