Bollywood has lost yet another gem as veteran actor Achyut Potdar, best remembered for playing the strict yet kind-hearted professor in 3 Idiots, passed away on 18 August 2025. He breathed his last at Jupiter Hospital in Thane at the age of 91.
The news of his demise was confirmed by Star Pravah through a social media post, leaving the entire film industry in deep sorrow. The exact cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Early Life and Education
Born on 22 August 1934 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Achyut Potdar hailed from a Marathi Brahmin family. He spent most of his childhood in Indore and completed his graduation in Economics in 1961.
Before venturing into acting, Potdar served in the Indian Armed Forces and later worked with the Indian Oil Corporation. Interestingly, he began his acting career at the age of 45, proving that passion knows no age.

Over his illustrious 45-year career, Achyut Potdar acted in 125+ Bollywood films, 95 television serials, 26 plays, and 45 advertisements, across both Hindi and Marathi entertainment industries.
