The highly controversial film Udaipur Files, based on the murder of Kanhaiya Lal, has failed to create any magic at the box office. Released on 8 August 2025, the movie was expected to generate strong numbers due to the intense buzz and legal disputes surrounding its release. However, early reports reveal a dismal performance, with collections plunging drastically within the first two days.
On its opening day, Udaipur Files managed to earn only ₹0.13 crore, falling short of even the ₹1 crore mark. The situation worsened on the second day, when the film recorded a mere ₹0.01 crore in earnings, indicating a sharp drop in audience interest.
Storyline of Udaipur Files
Directed by Bharat S. Srinate, the film revolves around the brutal 2022 murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur. It stars Vijay Raaz, Rajneesh Duggal, Kamlesh Sawant, Mushtaq Khan, and Preeti Jhangiani in pivotal roles. While the story had the potential to attract a strong viewership, the lack of positive word-of-mouth and weak critical reception have hindered its success.
